noosa triathlon
During November in Noosa Australia, the salty sea breezes take on the hint of liniment and the gorgeous bodies on the beach are supplemented by thousands of fit looking people in lycra. This can mean only one thing – the Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival is on again!
The festival is a series of sporting events for a range of ages and abilities. Superkidz allows kids 7-13 the chance to enjoy competing in a Triathlon. The Noosa run swim run is a fun event for all ages and abilities. The Tour de Noosa cycle race is a race through the Noosa and Sunshine Coast hills and the Noosa Ocean swim is an event for blue water swim racing. There is also a breakfast fun run and the Noosa special triathlon for athletes with special intellectual needs, one of only a few in Australia.
The main event is the Noosa Triathlon, one of the worlds biggest with over 8,500 competitors. The Triathlon swim leg is over 1500m followed by a 40km cycle through undulating roads and then a 10km run out through Noosa Heads.
Triathlon headquarters is Noosa Heads Lions Triathlon Park, which is also the start, end and transition point for the big race. There are total road closures for the event and generally the Sunshine Coast weather for the Noosa event is warm and humid.
Book into one of the many hotel or resort options available in the area as accommodation for the Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport festival to recuperate after the event. Just look for one with a spa or sauna to help your muscles!
